In boys basketball last evening…
• Houghton shut down Calumet 58-21. The Gremlins defense held the Copper Kings to just eight second-half points. Luke Hill poured in 33 points for Houghton. Blake Tarvis led the Kings with nine. Hear the game replay here.

College Basketball
Both Michigan Tech basketball teams face Winona State today. The men’s team will host the Warriors at 1:00. The women’s teams meet this evening in Minnesota.
Both Northern Michigan teams entertain Northwood this afternoon.
NHL
The Red Wings’ late surge fell short in a 4-3 loss to the Ducks last night. Trailing 4-0 early in the second period, Jeff Petry scored his first goal of the season to start the comeback. Alex De Brincat netted two third-period power play goals to narrow the gap, but Anaheim held on for the win. Ville Husso stopped six of eight shots before leaving with a lower-body injury in the first period. James Reimer relieved him, and made 12 saves on 14 shots.
Husso’s injury will be evaluated today. Detroit is already without goalie Alex Lyon, who is nursing an upper body injury.
The Wings visit the Jets tomorrow. Coverage will begin at 7:15 on 99.3 The Lift.
NBA
The Pistons’ losing streak continued last night with a 130-124 loss to the Hawks. Cade Cunningham scored a career-best 43 for Detroit, and Bojan Bogdanovic added 25.
The Pistons have now lost 24 straight, and host the Jazz on Thursday.
NFL
In last night’s contest, the Seahawks scored a touchdown with 33 seconds remaining in the game, and earned a 20-17 comeback win over the Eagles.

Seattle’s win prevented the Lions from clinching a playoff berth. They could do that, and wrap up the NFC North Division title, with a win over the Vikings Sunday.

Former Tigers outfielder Victor Reyes will play in Korea next summer. He has signed with the KBO’s Lotte Giants.
