Gogebic Conservation District Adds Parker Wohlstein as New Forest Assistance Program Forester

The Gogebic Conservation District has hired a new Forest Assistance Program Forester to serve Gogebic and Ontonagon Counties. Parker Wohlstein recently graduated from the University of Kentucky with a  degree in Forestry and a minor in Wildlife Biology and Management. Since 2020 Wohlstein has worked in conservation management previously in Kentucky, Illinois, South Dakota, and Louisiana. In 2021 he began working with the US Fish and Wildlife Service as a biological science technician. He says that while having worked primarily in southern locations he immediately felt at home in the Upper Peninsula. Additionally, he is excited to start working with landowners on stewardship practices in Gogebic and Ontonagon counties.

The Forestry Assistance Program provides landowners with a professional contact when inquiring about forest management practices. Foresters can help landowners understand, plan, manage, protect, and utilize their forest resources through education and outreach. The program provides free services to landowners and promotes stewardship of private lands.
