High School
In boys high school basketball last evening…
• Houghton smothered Lake Linden-Hubbell 70-31. The Gremlins took command by outscoring the Lakes 22-2 in the second quarter. Luke Hill led Houghton with 33 points, and Lane Laux added 20. Gabe Popko scored 13 for Lake Linden, who suffered their first loss of the season.
• Calumet outscored Dollar Bay-Tamarack City 59-48. Blake Tarvis and Gavin Sturos each scored 17 for the Copper Kings. Liam Tourtillot led the Blue Bolts with 18, and Will Beaudoin added 12.
• Hancock lost to Westwood 72-26.
• Jeffers shut down L’Anse 85-22 to remain unbeaten. Five Jets scored in double figures – Matthew Schutz with 16, Ian Nordstrom and Damien Heikkinen with 15 each, Lincoln Just with 12, and Levi Frahm with 11.
• Baraga defeated Chassell 51-46. Isaac Parrish led the Vikings with 18 points. Eli Danison paced the Panthers with 24, and Oliver Campbell added 10.
• Ontonagon outpointed Watersmeet 67-63.
• Ewen-Trout Creek got past Wakefield-Marenisco 47-42.
In girls play last night…
• L’Anse outscored Jeffers 51-45.
• Baraga routed Chassell 66-14.
• Ontonagon stuffed Watersmeet 58-18.
• Ewen-Trout Creek stopped Wakefield-Marenisco 51-23.

College Basketball
Michigan Tech guard Marcus Tomashek has been named the GLIAC Men’s Basketball Offensive Player of the Week. Tomashek scored a career-high 39 points in the Huskies’ loss to Saginaw Valley on Thursday, and added 20 points in their win over Wayne State Saturday. It’s the second time Tomashek has won the award this season.
Northern Michigan University’s Dylan Kuehl was selected as Defensive Player of the Week.
NHL
The Red Wings fell to the Stars 6-3 last night. After Daniel Sprong gave Detroit an early lead, Dallas scored four straight to take control. Jonatan Berggren and Joe Veleno narrowed the gap to one, but the Wings couldn’t complete the comeback. James Reimer stopped 29 shots, and took the loss.
The Wings visit the Blues tonight. Coverage will begin at 7:15 on 99.3 The Lift.
Detroit will be without captain Dylan Larkin for the foreseeable future. He was placed on injured reserve after being knocked unconscious during Saturday’s game against the Senators. Team officials say there’s no timetable for his return. They’ll also be without David Perron for six games. He’s been suspended without pay for retaliating to the hits that brought down Larkin.
NBA
The Pistons’ team record losing streak reached 20 games last night, as they lost to the Pacers 131-123. Cade Cunningham led Detroit with 23 points, and Ausar Thompson added 20.
The Pistons entertain the 76ers tomorrow evening. Coverage will start at 6:35 on 99.3 The Lift.
NFL
Randy Bullock’s 37-yard field goal as time expired lifted the Giants to a 24-22 victory over the Packers in one of last night’s games. Jordan Love passed for one touchdown, and threw one interception. Jayden Reed ran for a score, and Anders Carlson kicked three field goals.
The Titans overcame a 14-point deficit in the final three minutes, and stunned the Dolphins 28-27.
