Now that it’s December it’s time to slow down and take in the sights, sounds, and smells at various holiday events around the copper country. While out many locals will enjoy spending time with friends and family in Chassell for an Old Fashioned Christmas. Some of the Chassell Old Fashioned Christmas events have already begun, with kids helping decorate Christmas trees and some of the Christmas light contest judging taking place.
But most of the good ol’ times will start tomorrow and on Saturday. Such as tomorrow’s Christmas tree lighting at the Third Annual Ben Zadorecky Christmas Tree Lighting at 5 pm. After the star atop the tree has been lit, residents will enjoy some horse-drawn wagon rides, visits with Santa, and even a little caroling. Some carolers will even keep singing into Saturday, when Pasi Lautala plans to share Finnish Christmas Carrols with help from the Majority Finn.
Those interested in even helping Lautala with a little sing-a-long can join the fun at Chassell Old Fashioned Christmas on Saturday or in Atlantic Mine on Sunday.
Find more details about Chassell Old Fashioned Christmas here.
Below is a message from Pasi Lautala to those interested in joining a Finnish Carole Sing-a-Long on Sunday in Atlantic Mine:
Iltaa, Iltaa,
Holiday time has arrived, so it’s also time for my favorite event of the year…after a few years hiatus…..Finnish (and not so Finnish) Christmas carols.
As has become a tradition, we will do this at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, Atlantic Mine, this time on Sunday, December 10th, 2;00 p.m……good music, singing…..and of course we leave the best for the last….Finnish food and bakeries….and coffee. Take a look at the attached poster for more details here.
For those who want to get a “warmup” concert, myself and hopefully some other Majority Finn members will also be playing some carols during Chassell Old Fashioned Christmas on Saturday, 9th, starting at 1 p.m….maybe see some of you there.
