In cherished memory of John Henry Raisanen, who gracefully departed on November 21 at the
age of 74. John, a treasured father, husband, brother, and friend, leaves an indelible mark on
the hearts of his family and friends.
Born on April 4, 1949, in Hancock, MI, John’s journey unfolded in Houghton County. A proud Houghton High School graduate, Army veteran, and dedicated maintenance technician at Michigan Tech University, his legacy is one of service and dedication.
Survived by his Brother Edwin (Bill) Raisanen, Sister Lisa Martila, Sons Forrest and Lucas Raisanen, and Grandson Aiden Raisanen, John’s life was a tapestry woven with love. Preceded by his wife Amy Raisanen, Father Edwin Raisanen, Mother Julia Martiala, Brother Kenth Raisanen, and Sister Juliet Raisanen, his spirit joins theirs in eternal peace.
John’s vibrant and caring nature will forever be remembered. A craftsman at heart, he found joy in building, from boats to homes. Nature was his sanctuary, where he thrived as an avid hunter, fisherman, and bird watcher, touching countless lives with his warmth.
A memorial service will honor John’s life on Saturday, November 25, 2023, at 11:00 am at the Memorial Chapel Funeral & Cremation Service – Hancock Chapel. Friends may call on Saturday, November 25, 2023, from 10 am until time of services at the Memorial Chapel Funeral & Cremation Service – Hancock Chapel.
