The Copper Shores Community Health Foundation and Feeding America West Michigan have helped more than 300 families in the western upper peninsula secure access to healthy food through a mobile food pantry program. The two groups have been working together for a few years now, since 2020, to bring free food donations to Copper Country residents. The groups have primarily set up mobile food pantries in the Ontonagon area, as there the groups can serve a larger number of people in need.
Next Wednesday the two groups will once again work together and have a mobile food pantry set up at the Ontonagon Village Fire Hall. The mobile food pantry is the third such event to take place in the past three months. Those picking up a box of food from Feeding America next week will not need to show ID. Though organizers do ask to provide either a home address or phone number. The Feeding America Semi Truck will arrive at the Ontonagon Village fire hall at noon on November 1.
