MDOT will Close the Upper Peninsula Roadside Parks in One Week

Roadside parks across the upper peninsula will close soon. Next week the Michigan Department of transportation will begin to close down the region’s roadside parks and turnouts for the upcoming winter. The transportation department operates 32 roadside parks in the Upper Peninsula. The department will keep the visitor’s center north of St Ignace open for an additional month, closing on November 30th. All other roadside parks in the Upper Peninsula will close next Friday, October 27th. The parks will reopen in the spring, sometime during April. Find more information on MDOT roadside parks here.
