Kaleidoscope Keweenaw helps parents and kids have a safe place to learn and spend time after school, while parents are working. The local nonprofit organization has already started many of its after-school clubs for the year, at both its Hancock and L’Anse locations. The group offers a variety of clubs for students’ interests, like building with Legos, acting with the drama club, or enjoying time with friends.
“So it’s not like a class where you would have guided lessons. But there are some suggested activities. For example, there might be one activity that you don’t traditionally think of doing with Legos. Sometimes it’s a building challenge, sometimes they’ll build something that can float in the water. They’ve made Lego volcanoes, with baking soda and vinegar.” Erin Gregorcich, Programs Coordinator, Kaleidoscope Keweenaw
Kaleidoscope has released a large number of vouchers for families interested in learning more about their afterschool program with a chance to attend for free. Find out more about the Kaleidoscope’s afterschool programs, and information about the organization here.
