Just in time for the fall color change, Keweenaw Young Professionals will hold the group’s annual fall color run. Keweenaw Color Run acts as the group’s largest fundraiser. The fun run also adds a little pop of bright colors to the area’s beautiful red, yellow, and orange leaves.
“We tried to pick a route that would go right along the canal. So it’ll be scenic with the fall color. And then we will have our color as well. So there are six color stations spread out along the route. It is kind of like this chalk powder. And they’ll squeeze those at runners as they run by. So there’s this cloud of color that runners can go through and collect the different colors on their shirt.” – Savanna Rivest, Treasurer, Keweenaw Young Professionals
The Keweenaw Color Run is the group’s largest fundraiser and helps Keweenaw Young Professionals membership free to the community. Throughout the year Keweenaw Young professionals use the funds to help sponsor community events and provide for activities members take part in. A major aspect of the group also includes volunteering around the Copper Country.
“It’s kind of the main way we can keep membership free. And able to do all of the activities we have as a group. Which has kind of evolved over the years, but that’s what we’ve heard from our current members about what they’re looking for. Having those opportunities to invest in the community through volunteerism, and connect with other young professionals in the area.” – Savanna Rivest, Treasurer, Keweenaw Young Professionals
