The Northern women’s team outlasted a 90-minute lightning delay to defeat Davenport 3-0 yesterday.

NHL
The Red Wings pounded the Blackhawks 6-1 in preseason play last night. Michael Rasmussen had two goals and an assist. Alex Lyon and James Reimer split time in net.

MLB
The Tigers completed their season with a 5-2 victory over the Guardians yesterday. Matt Vierling homered. Eduardo Rodriguez gave up a run over seven innings to get the win. The focus, though, was on future Hall-of-Famer Miguel Cabrera, who played his final game for Detroit. Cabrera had a quiet day at the plate, drawing a four-pitch walk in his last at-bat. He also took the field one last time late in the game, and fielded a ground ball at first base. Cabrera will remain with the Tigers as a special assistant to president of baseball operations Scott Harris.
The Tigers conclude their season with a record of 78-84, in second place in the American League Central Division.
The Brewers tuned up for the playoffs with a 4-0 win over the Cubs. Adrian Houser turned in five shutout innings, and Tyrone Taylor homered.
The Brewers will open the playoffs at home tomorrow against the Diamondbacks.
NFL
In last night’s NFL game, the Chiefs held off the Jets 24-20.
