Michigan Tech’s College of Computing will Showcase Research into Artificial Intelligence in October

What do Lumen5, Chat GPT, Dall-E 2, and Krisp all have in common? Each are artificial intelligence program used for various applications to make business, research, and life easier. 2023 national news coverage has been dominated by topics surrounding the new technology, and what it could be used for. Coming up at the beginning of October, Michigan Tech’s College of Computing will dive into Artificial Intelligence and showcase work with the tool created and researched by students and faculty at the university. The three-day event, Showcase[AI[ will include panel discussions, keynote speakers, an award ceremony, and the poster room showcasing student and faculty work.

“We also have computing and opportunities in rural programs that’s looking at like, how education and access to computing is different in rural communities. And how can it be improved in rural communities.”
– Tim Havens, Director, Institute of Computing and Cybersystems

Director of the College of Computing, Tim Havens says that the university has been at the forefront of research and algorithm development for artificial intelligence applications. And the possibilities of use with such a tool are astounding. He thinks because of the prevalence the topic has gained in the past year, many people from the community would be very interested to learn what Michigan Tech is up to in this exciting field of study.

“And this is an opportunity to get a glimpse at, you know, what’s happening behind the scenes in the research into AI. And how AI is being used for applications, that they may not see in the public sphere for many years to come. But are the things we are working on at Michigan Tech in research.” – Tim Havens, Director, Institute of Computing and Cybersystems
