Fast paced. Plenty of hard hits. And an out of this world level of competition. Tomorrow the Keweenaw Roller Derby will host the ninth annual Solar System Smack-down. The mixer brings together roller derby skaters from around the region, and are split into two interstellar teams going head to head.
In the black jerseys are the Suns, Coached by Melissious Intent and includes skaters from the Chippewa Valley, Dead River, Minnnesota, Grand Raggidy, and Lansing derby teams. Going up against the Moons in wihte jerseys. The Moons are coached by D.J. Jazzy, and made up of skaters from the Kewenaw, Detroit, Chippewa Vally, and dead river debry squads.
This year the Solar System Smack-down will take place at the historic Calumet Colosseum. Doors for the Solar system smack down will open at 5 pm. The first whistle at the colosseum will blow at 6 pm. Tickets to the Solar system smack down, host by the Kewenaw Roller Derby cost 5 dollars at the door. Kids under 10 will get in for free.
