With the Houghton County Fair less than two weeks away, officials have posted an updated about registration deadlines.
The fair office at the Houghton County Arena will be open extended hours Monday, August 14th to Thursday, August 17th, to facilitate registration. The office will be open from 12 noon to 7 p.m. each of those days. Use the east entrance of the Ice Arena to get to the fair office.
Monday, August 14th at 7 p.m. is the deadline to register all livestock, poultry and rabbits, and horses to avoid the late fee.
Wednesday, August 16th at 7 p.m. is the deadline to register youth club still exhibits.
Thursday, August 17th at 7 p.m. is the deadline to register all open adult and open youth class exhibits.
Exhibitors may register in person at the office, or online at houghtoncountyfair.com and call the office at 482-6200 to pay any fees with a credit card. Still exhibits for open and youth classes, youth livestock, and the Youth Talent Show do not have any fees.
Officials recommend that exhibitors with a lot of entries pick up tags on Monday, August 21st to tag exhibits before bringing them to the Exhibit Building on Tuesday afternoon, August 22nd from 4 to 7 p.m. or Wednesday morning, August 23rd, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Wednesday, August 23rd at 1 p.m. the Exhibit Building will be closed for judging still exhibits.
The first event at the fair is the Poultry and Rabbit Show at 2 p.m. on Thursday, August 24th. The carnival, midway and exhibit building open at 3 p.m. Vendors will open by 6 p.m. that Thursday.
