Luke Kreider Sentenced to 15 Year Minimum for Second Degree Homicide

A Hancock man has been sentenced for the murder of a L’Anse man from an incident that occurred in September 2022. Yesterday the Houghton county circuit court sentenced Luke Kreider, 20 years old of Hancock, to serve 15 to 45 years in jail for the murder of Caleb Lynum of L’Anse.

Kreider was arrested on September 2nd, 2022, in the morning following the initial assault on Lynum at the Arbor Green Apartments in Houghton. Lynum was transported to a hospital in Marquette for severe brain trauma, where he later died.

In June of this year, Kreider plead guilty to second degree homicide in exchange for a plea deal that dismissed an open murder charge. As well as dismissed a separate sexual assault case in accordance with the plea agreement.

Kreider will serve a minimum of 15 years behind bars, and has been credited with 345 days served.
