Time Still Left to Register for the Verna Mize Triathlon

Verna Mize saved Lake Superior. Her fight was against illegal material dumping by mining companies has kept the water clean and safe for the basin’s residents. This weekend the local area will celebrate the local hero, with a triathlon involving the water Mize dearly protected.

“She saved the lake. And it just made sense to somehow involve the water. So the turn around is at the Great Lakes Research building, which just makes sense. And everything for it just really fell into place magically. But it really started when Eric and the city moved that monument down to the water.” – Mark Kaminski, Verna Mize Triathlon Organizer

Registration forms for the Verna Mize Triathlon can be found online, and should be brought in person to the event on Saturday morning. There are two triathlon events for participants to choose from, the Full Mize and Mini Mize. Registration costs five dollars at the the registration table. Athletes of all ages are encouraged to sign up and challenge themselves to the competition.
