Seven Year Old Drowns in Ontonagon County

A seven year old child drowned in Misery Bay over the weekend, in Ontoangon County. On Friday the Ontonagon County Sheriff was dispatched to the Misery Bay boat launch for a report of a missing seven year old boy. Superior Search and Rescue with assistance from volunteers, were able to locate the missing boy in the water, where life saving CPR efforts were taken. The child was transported to the incident command center. He was later taken too, and pronounced dead at UPHS Portage. No other information about the victim has been released at this time out of respect of the family.

The Ontonagon County Sheriff was assisted by Superior Search and Rescue, Baraga Search and Rescue, Gogebic Search and Rescue, MSP Calumet Post K-9 unit, the U.S. Coast Guard, Michigan DNR, Hoguhton County Marine Patrol, Mercy Ambulance, and volunteers.
