New rules and fees for parking may be coming to Houghton. At tonight’s council meeting the city will consider approving updates to the parking ordinance and fee schedule. The fee schedule will include updates to 24 hour parking permits, with overnight options for 6 months, the school year, and a one year permit. As well as adding a parking fine for re-parking in the central downtown sector, costing offenders 25 dollars. Additionally the city will look to approve the city’s application for a Municipal Buildings grant following a recommendation from the planning commission.
