Key Ingredients started 6 years ago in conjunction with Canal Run to celebrate local talent, like musicians and artists. Key Ingredients takes place the Friday before Canal Run, and the City of Hancock took over the celebration last year.
“Key Ingredients is going to be from end-to-end on Quincy Street, so from La Cantina on the 100 block all the way down to Gino’s. We’ve got restraunts spread all the way through, including The Forge [who] is coming down with their food truck, Keweenaw Co-op I believe they’re doing ice cream in front of their new location, we’ve got Sunflower books and coffee, and she’s doing scones, we have Gino’s and they’re going to be doing meatballs, and they’re going to be serving their free samples down in the middle of town, right near the Superior National Bank building.” – Todd Gast, Downtown Development Authority Coordinator
The organizers behind Key Ingredients hope to expand the event until it’s a street fair, so they have introduced new activities.
“Copper Country Community Arts Center is going to be having 6 or 7 demonstrating artist on the 100 block, so we’re introducing more things that are a little different, but are still celebrating our local artists, our local musicians, our local businesses, so we’re always looking for great ideas for Key Ingredients, and year by year we’re really increasing the amount of support and sponsorship, and participation.” – Todd Gast, Downtown Development Authority Coordinator
You can enjoy the great forecasted weather and support local businesses tomorrow from 6-8pm.
