MLB

Ryan Noda’s single off Tyler Holton in the top of the 10th inning gave the Athletics a 1-0 victory over the Tigers last evening. It was just the second hit of the night for Oakland. Tarik Skubal tossed four hitless innings in his first start since last August. Reese Olson gave up just one hit over five frames of stellar relief. Detroit loaded the bases in the bottom of the eighth, but Javier Báez struck out to end the threat.

Those teams play in Detroit again tonight. Eduardo Rodriguez will return from the injured list to start against Ken Waldichuk. Coverage will begin at 6:15 on 99.3 The Lift.

The Tigers have lost another pitcher. Tyler Alexander reported pain in his throwing shoulder after his outing on Sunday. No specific injury has been diagnosed, and it’s not known if he’ll need surgery, but it’s serious enough that Detroit immediately added him to the 60-day disabled list. He could be out for the season.

Nico Hoerner’s infield single off Clayton Andrews in the top of the 11th lifted the Cubs to a 7-6 win over the Brewers yesterday. Starter Wade Miley struggled through four innings, giving up four runs.

The Brewers host the Cubs again this evening. Adrian Houser will pitch against Justin Steele.
