As received from theJacobson Funeral Home:
Carrie Lou Thomas went home to be with her Lord and Savior on June 29th, 2023. She was born on April 13, 1942 to Harold and Lucille (Westerman) Juul in Waukegan, Illinois. She and her beloved husband, Larry R. Thomas (deceased 2008) moved to L’Anse, MI in 1975, when they bought the local Ford dealership. She and Larry had a great love affair. They enjoyed their life in L’Anse and the perfect location on Lake Superior.
She loved “her lake” as she liked to call it; swimming, riding her wave runner or going out on their boat, working in her garden and yard, and enjoying her beautiful surroundings.
She loved to travel with her husband, children, mother and sisters – to some amazing places around the world. She was always up for an adventure.
Carrie Lou was a pillar in the Methodist Church in L’Anse, MI, where she served as church organist, lay speaker, United Methodist Women’s President and sat on various committees. She was a delegate to the Detroit Conference and other district wide assignments. She loved supporting the church and church family she loved so much.
She was Dean of Senior High Camp for 26 years at Michigamme Methodist Camp, loving, caring, sharing, teaching, impacting hundreds of young lives over those years and imparting much wisdom and guidance.
She served on the L’Anse School Board and was a driving force for the most recent renovations to the present school facility. She loved supporting her community.
We call her Mom, Nanny, Grandma, Sister, Aunt, Friend, Dean, Counselor, Lay Speaker, Organist, Encourager, Prayer Warrior. God calls her Daughter and now she is home with Him.
Carrie Lou is survived by Julie (Bill) Fleck (daughter), Kent (Lori) Thomas (son); grandchildren – Michael (Claudia Gust) Fleck, Megan Fleck, Blake Thomas; great grandchildren Ethan Gust, Barbara Gust Fleck and Arya Gust Fleck; sisters Christy Long, Luann (John) Poll, sister-in-law Patti Juul; as well as many nieces and nephews.
