Houghton City Council Recap: Lakeshore Drive Ahead of Schedule, Unanimous Approval of New Police Car and Budget

The Houghton City Council was updated briefly on the schedule for the parking deck on Lakeshore drive. The east half is taken down slightly ahead of schedule, and the west half is expected to begin next Wednesday. The project is still projected to end at the end of July. The current pavement will be kept, but it will be repaved in the fall. There were reports of individuals living round the area that were happy with the company doing the project, and were having no issues.

Semco Energy needs to replace a gas line just north of Carnegie Museum in order to connect Douglass Houghton House Apartments, and their right of way grant was unanimously passed by the council.

The 2022/23 budget was updated to include grants from the state for construction and for the police department. There were also small changes to include small construction and other projects. The changes were unanimously passed by the council.

The purchase of a new police vehicle was also unanimously passed by the council.
