The Michigan Department of Transportation will remove the Silver River Culvert detour on M-26 at the end of the week. On Friday crews will removed the detour signage around the project site. Traffic will resume across the Silver River Bridge, in one lane with alternating traffic, for both east and west bound vehicles.
The Silver River culvert was already scheduled for work this summer prior to April, when a portion of the retaining wall failed, and MDOT was forced to shut down the road.
Crews will continue working on the project, but are at a point where traffic may resume on one side of the road. MDOT expects crews to finish the project around the end of July. The completed $2.9 million project will include a 12 foot wide roadway with an 8 foot wide shoulder on each side.
