WUPHD Reminds Vendors to Apply for Temporary Food Service Licenses Ahead of Fourth of July Festivities

Ahead of the big Fourth of July holiday, the Western Upper Peninsula Health Department would like to remind food vendors at local festivals to pick up their temporary food service vendor license. A temporary license is required at nearly all events where organizations and individuals will serve food or drink to the public, including events like festivals, picnics, or benefit fundraisers.

Obtaining a license verifies that a vendor will ensure that food preparation is safely handled. Licensing is required even if an organization is nonprofit, and plans to provide free food. All licenses for temporary food vendors can be found on the Health Department’s website. All applications have to be submitted at least 5 days prior to the event. If you have questions about the Temporary Food Service Vendor License with the Western Upper Peninsula Health Department call 906 482 7382.
