Houghton’s Planning Commission will create a new subcommittee focused on the city’s redevelopment sites. Three members of the planning commission Norma Veurink, Joan Suits and Ben Ciavola will join city manager Eric Waara on the subcommittee.
The planning commission also approved a site plan amendment for the H3 building development, located at 408 fairview street, near Michigan Tech’s campus. The amendment to the site plan involved changing the development’s plans for parking, as well as cosmetic changes to the building’s stairwell.
The commission then began reviewing the master plan chapters focused on recreation, downtown, the M-26 corridor, and sustainability. The commission will continue reviewing chapters during the next month’s meeting.
City manager Eric Waara, city clerk Ann Vollrath, and mayor Brian Irrizarry were absent from the meeting.
