New Houghton Trash Carts To Be Used This Week

All trash and recycling carts have been delivered to residents in Houghton.

Starting this week, all trash must be placed in the trash cart with the lid closed, and all recyclables must be placed in the recyclables cart with the lid closed as well. The carts must be put out front next to the road about three feet apart.

If there is any trash or recyclables left outside of the carts, it will not be collected.

The lighter colored containers are for recyclables and the darker colored containers are for trash. This may be confusing as some containers have old stickers on them that are incorrect. Waste Management will be placing new stickers on the bins when they receive them that will clearly let you know what goes in each bin.

Recycling is every other week.

Houghton landlords are asked to make sure the carts are stowed away safely at residences that are unoccupied for the summer.
