Leo Rudolph Maki, age 64 of Aura, MI passed away on Friday, June 2nd, 2023 at OSF St. Francis Hospital in Escanaba, MI.
He was born July 22, 1958 in L’Anse, MI son of Rudolph and Jean (Hiltunen) Maki. Leo grew up in Sheboygan, WI and graduated from Sheboygan South High School in 1977. He worked for many years at JL French in Sheboygan as a forklift driver.
Leo was a former member of Christ Lutheran Church in Sheboygan, and later attended Aura Lutheran Church, where he served as an usher.
He could often be found “tinkering” on cars, and pretty much anything with an engine. He enjoyed hunting, especially the annual deer camp, and riding his 4-wheeler . Leo was very proud of his Finnish heritage.
Surviving are his brother Ed (Deb) Maki, Plymouth WI; sister Annette (Scott) Adamavich, Mequon, WI; nephew and great-nephew, Chuck and Burl Weissgerber, Sheboygan, WI; niece Megan Maki, Milwaukee, WI; and dear friends Craig and Kate Beer, L’Anse, MI.
Preceding him in death are his parents; sister and brother-in-law: Linda (David) Weissgerber; and niece Sheena Weissgerber.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, June 20th at 11 a.m. in the Aura Cemetery with Pastor Peter Suomela officiating. The Jacobson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
