Walk-off Slam Sinks Tigers – Monday Sports Wrap

NBA

The NBA Championship Series is tied at a win per team, after the Heat edged the Nuggets 111-108 last evening. Game three will be played Wednesday in Miami.

NHL

The Stanley Cup series continues tonight, as the Golden Knights entertain the Panthers. Vegas leads that set 1-0.

MLB

The Tigers couldn’t hold an early lead, and lost to the White Sox 6-2 yesterday. Spencer Torkelson’s two-run homer in the fourth put Detroit on top. The Sox tied the game in the sixth, then loaded the bases against Alex Lange in the bottom of the ninth, and Jake Burger’s grand slam ended the game.

The Tigers open a series at Philadelphia tonight. Joey Wentz will start against Aaron Nola. Coverage will begin at 6:15 on 99.3 The Lift.

With Alex Faedo on the injured list with a fingernail problem, the Tigers have brought Garrett Hill back up from Toledo.

The Brewers shut down the Reds 5-1 yesterday. Adrian Houser gave up a run over seven innings to earn the win. Andruw Monasterio and Victor Caratini homered.

The Brewers conclude that series at Cincinnati tonight. Julio Teheran will pitch against Andrew Abbott, who will be making his major league debut.

Milwaukee has called left-hander Bennett Sousa up from Nashville, and sent right-hander Jake Cousins down.

Former Tigers coach Roger Craig has died. Craig mentored the pitching staff of the 1984 championship team, which included Jack Morris, Dan Petry, Milt Wilcox and Guillermo Hernández. He also managed the Padres and Giants. Roger Craig was 93.
