MLB
The Tigers lost 1-0 in 10 innings to the White Sox Saturday. Michael Lorenzen turned in seven strong innings, giving up just two hits, and allowing a runner to score from third on a wild pitch. Detroit’s run also scored on a wild pitch, when Zach McInstry scampered home after a sixth-inning triple. Fittingly, the game ended on yet another wild pitch, uncorked by José Cisnero with the bases loaded in the bottom of the 10th.
The Tigers play in Chicago again this afternoon. Matthew Boyd will start against Michael Kopech. Coverage will begin at 1:45 on 99.3 The Lift.
Add another starting pitcher to the Tigers’ injured list. Alex Faedo has been sidelined because of a fingernail problem.
The Brewers outslugged the Reds 10-8 yesterday. Colin Rea gave up three runs over five frames to earn the win. Blake Perkins hit a grand slam, and William Contreras also homered.
The Brewers continue that series at Cincinnati this afternoon. Adrian Houser will pitch against Ben Lively.
Before yesterday’s game, Milwaukee called first baseman Jon Singleton up from Nashville. His appearance for the Brewers yesterday was his first major league game in almost eight years. Singleton was once one of the most highly regarded prospects in baseball, but struggled for the Astros, and was released in 2018 after multiple marijuana use suspensions. He replaces Darin Ruf, who has been added to the injured list along with Tyrone Taylor. Blake Perkins was recalled to fill Taylor’s spot.
