Houghton’s Trash Collection Center To Accept Materials Free Throughout May

The City of Houghton’s Trash Collection Center will be accepting certain materials free of charge during the month of May.

The materials allowed are leaves, small branches, yard clippings, and construction material such as wood and brick.

Wood must be in lengths of under four feet.

City officials ask that you do not bring furniture, clothes, metal, tires, cardboard, paint and empty cans, household garbage or lightbulbs of any type.

The allowed items are to be dropped off at the City Garage on the corner of Technical Avenue and Gundlach Road.  There will not be an attendant present so drop-off is self-serve only.  Materials will need to be divided up into the marked dumpsters.  All activities will be recorded by camera.

Seniors 65 and older and handicapped residents living in single-family homes can contact the City office to arrange to have their materials picked up.
