One man is dead, and one woman is in custody after a homicide in Hessel Township, north of St. Ignace. Michigan State Police St. Ignace Troopers responded to reports of shots fired at a residence yesterday. Upon arrival troopers found a deceased 73 year old male, with an apparent gunshot wound. Quickly troopers confronted a 34 year old. Joelle Chamberlain, just down the road from the incident. Chamberlain was taken into custody after troopers observed indicators pointing at her involvement in the shooting. She is a relative of the deceased man. Chamberlain has been charged with open murder, and logged in the Mackinac County Jail. The name of the deceased has not been released at this time. MSP Troopers were assisted by Mackinac County Sheriffs Dept, Sault Tribal Police, Clark Township EMS, and the Michigan State Police Forensic Lab in Grayling.
