She was born in Calumet, Michigan on February 25, 1949, to the late Helen and Earl (Yaunt) Johnson. She graduated from Calumet High School with the Class of 1967. After graduation, she held several jobs until being hired at JCPenney’s where she worked for 34 years until her retirement, creating many friendships along the way.

Carole married Rodger Bish of Tiffin, Ohio on January 13, 1968, and together they had two children, Steven Bish and Shelley (Bish) Bugni and was proud to be called “Amma” by her two granddaughters, Megan and Molly.

She was preceded in death by her father Earl (Yaunt) Johnson and her mother, Helen Marie Johnson.

Carole is survived by her husband Rodger Bish of Houghton, her children Steve (Jennifer) Bish of L’Anse and Shelley (Jeff) Bugni of Houghton, two granddaughters Megan Bugni (Parker Bowman) of Grand Rapids and Molly Bugni of Houghton, her brother Earl (Jano) Johnson of Hancock, her sisters Linda Johnson of Laurium, Arlene Collins of Calumet and Bonnie Palmentera of Cleveland, Ohio, along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Carole enjoyed gardening, four-wheeling, lunch with her JCPenney friends, weekends at their camp in Eagle River and hanging out by the river. She also enjoyed pinochle games with her friends and Christmas crafts with Megan and Molly. After retirement, Carole and Rodger spent many winters traveling before they settled in Florida for a few months during the winter. Carole enjoyed sharing her love of food with those around her. She particularly enjoyed spending many afternoons making pasties with her sisters, teaching her granddaughters family recipes and hosting several family dinners and cookouts.

The Memorial Chapel Funeral & Cremation Service – Hancock Chapel is assisting the family with the arrangements. Visitation will be Friday, May 26 at the Memorial Chapel in Hancock from 4-6 with a Memorial Service to follow at 6.
