Obituary: Randy Lee “Rambo” Huttunen

Randy Lee “Rambo” “Dancing Bear” Huttunen age 53, of Alston, MI passed way unexpectedly on Thursday, May 11, 2023. He was born in Hancock, MI on November 26, 1969 the son of Thomas “Tom” and Jean (Takalo) Huttunen. Rambo graduated from L’Anse High School in 1988. He had been employed with CCI since 2005 as an operator/loader with ore cars. Rambo was a member of Mission United Lutheran Church, ABATE, United Steel Workers Local #4950 and #4974, Ottawa Sportsman Club, and Otter Lake Sportsman Club. Rambo enjoyed fishing, bird hunting, riding his Harley, driving his “Yukiby”, spending time with friends at camp, side by side rides with his dogs. He loved his donkey “Ziggy”, bajaing and spinning donuts, and playing trivia at the Village Bar. Rambo was an avid Green Bay Packer and Alston Softball fan. He loved the annual tractor race in Alston and the 4th of July parade in Tapiola. He will be remembered for his big heart, his personality and for giving out bumble bees to friends and saying “Bee Happy”.

Rambo is survived by his loving family; his father Tom of L’Anse, sister Bonnie (Mark) Krueger of Pelkie, his aunt Lynn Takalo of Baraga, uncles George Takalo (Kaye Perry) of Pelkie, and Lowell (Martha) Witz of West Virginia, numerous cousins, his faithful dog ‘Raylee” and close friends Bob “Sugar Bob”, Brian A., Gregg, Jon, Eric “Squirrel”, Kyle “Sauna”, Travis, Lee, Jurmo, and Mark. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, his mother Jean, his uncle Billy, friends Johnny, Dano, and Dave and his beloved dogs Bear and Heikki.

Graveside services for Rambo will be held at 3 p.m., Thursday, May 25, 2023 at the Pelkie Cemetery with Pastor Kelly Ylitalo officiating. Rambo’s friends will honor him as casket bearers. Immediately following the graveside services, the family invites friends to join them to celebrate Rambo’s life at the Church in the Valley, aka Village Bar in Alston.

Please wear casual attire to the graveside service or your favorite Green Bay Packer or Harley Davidson clothing.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials in Rambo’s honor to be directed to the family.

The Reid Funeral Service and Chapel, L’Anse has been entrusted with the funeral arrangements.
