Marie B. Savela, 87, a former resident of Chassell passed away Tuesday, May 9, 2023, at Canal View – Houghton County where she had been a resident patient for the past seven years.
She was born on November 13, 1935, in Painesdale, MI, a daughter of the late John and Lydia (Niemi) Savela. Marie was raised in Tapiola and was a graduate of the John A. Doelle High School with the class of 1955. For over forty years Ms. Savela had worked as Herman Gundlach’s assistant, helping him in many ways.
She was a member of the Doelle Senior Citizens and enjoyed working in her gardening during her free time.
Preceding her in death were her parents and her brother John G. Savela.
Surviving are:
3 nieces, 3 great nephews, 4 great-great nieces and 1 great-great nephew.
Numerous friends.
As requested no service will take place and burial will be in the Elo Cemetery.
