As received from Memorial Chapel Funeral and Cremation Service:

Pauline Hanna Moore, aged 80, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, passed away on May 1, 2023 after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s disease.

She was born in Lowell, Massachusetts, on November 23, 1942, to John W. and Alice B. (Socorelis) Gill. Pauline graduated from Lowell High School and attended Boston University where she graduated in 1964 with a BA in English Literature.  She went on to earn an MS in Library Science from Simmons College in Boston in 1966. While taking the train to Boston for class, Pauline met and fell in love with fellow commuter, Dennis. Shortly after graduation, she married Dennis J. Moore on February 19, 1966.

Pauline and Dennis moved to St. Louis, Missouri, where Pauline worked as a librarian at the regional VA hospital until they started a family. In 1972, Pauline, Dennis, and their three children moved to Houghton, Michigan, to join the Michigan Tech community. A year later, Pauline and her family moved to Chassell, Michigan, where she resided surrounded by an apple orchard and the natural beauty of the area.

Pauline worked for many years as a reference librarian at the Michigan Tech library. During this time, Pauline also earned an MS in Rhetoric and Technical Communication and continued on to earn her PhD in the same field in 1998. She was a strong advocate for literacy and education throughout her career. She retired from the Michigan Tech library in 2004.

Moore, their three children, Kathleen (Carl) Cadwallader, Matthew (Carol) Moore, and Christopher (Beth) Moore, four grandchildren, Lily Cadwallader, and Jonah, Rachel, and Anna Moore, and her sister Johanna Gill.
