International Entrepreneur’s Startup Program Starts At Michigan Tech

Michigan Tech is now the fourth university to join Global Detroit’s Global Entrepreneur In Residence program, helping immigrants and international entrepreneurs launch high-growth startups in Michigan.

The program places international entrepreneurs in universities for coaching, education, and visas.

Michigan Tech and Global Detroit’s agreement means the recruitment process will begin with their current international student population and others who are developing new technologies and aiming for commercial opportunities.

Other universities include University of Michigan, which piloted the program, Wayne State University, and College for Creative Studies.

According to the Michigan Tech news article, The GEIR program has so far supported six companies, which have raised $15.6 million in venture capital and created 49 part time and full time jobs.
