Karen Oja, 81, a resident of Portage Pointe passed away on Sunday, April 16, 2023, after a heart-wrenching battle with depression and dementia.
Karen was born on March 14, 1942, in Baraga Michigan. She was a daughter of the late Martin and Vieno (Tolonen) Klemett. After graduating from Hancock High School she moved to Milwaukee Wisconsin. She worked at Milwaukee Plastics and Vaporized Coatings and started a family with Andrew Joseph Oja. She spent close to 30 years in Milwaukee before returning to the Copper Country.
Karen will be lovingly remembered by her children Bridgett (Mark) Hengtgen, Andrew (Mary) Oja Jr. and Jay Oja; Her Grandchildren Amber (Matt) Marchel, Andrew (Audrey) Oja Jr. III, Jacob Hengtgen, Joshua Hengtgen and Cage Oja; Her Great grandchildren Finn and Noah Oja and numerous stepchildren, nieces and nephews.
Preceding her death were her parents, brothers Rodney Klemett, Mervin Klemett, David Klemett and sister Ann (Wainio) Klemett. She also has one surviving sister Elaine (Peterson) Klemett.

A graveside service for Karen will be held later this year in the Mt. View Cemetery of South Range.
