Seniors throughout the Copper Country who would otherwise be spending this Easter alone won’t have to, thanks to Little Brothers Friends of the Elderly.
Once again, Little Brothers will be serving free Easter Dinners for friends 60 and over at several different locations.
In the final days, Little Brothers found themselves in need of 250 pounds of ham plus desserts, cole slaw dressing, pineapple slices, ginger ale and butter.
But Little Brothers Elder Services Coordinator Julie Beck said the community came through and donated all of the items they needed.
Beck said, “I was just absolutely pleased that there were just a few little tiny things that we had to purchase in order to put this all together but we’ve had donations of ham, of canned goods, desserts—all those sorts of things. It’s just been wonderful and an outpouring from the community that I never expected to be so generous.”
For homebound seniors, meals will be delivered to their door starting at noon Sunday.
For those coming out for Easter, dinner is at 2:00.
