The Beaumier U.P. Heritage Center in Marquette is looking for examples of public art projects designed by the late artist Mary Wright.
The center is planning a retrospective exhibition of her works, beginning April 15th.
Exhibits will be returned to the owners when the retrospective closes.
Wright’s community-wide art projects included “Grandma Doors” in Marquette in 2007, “The Story Line” in Houghton in 2011, the “Family Tree Poles” in Marquette in 1999, the “Mitten Project” in the Copper Country, a collection of saunas for FinnFest in Houghton and Hancock, and a display of 3,000 painted chairs and other types of seating at the Superior Dome in 1996.
The Beaumier Center is looking for examples from these projects and others such as: FinnFest chairs from 1996 and 2005; Ice Shanties in Marquette in 1997; Books on the Block in 1997; Scarecrows along M-28 in 2000; Snow Shovels along M-28 in 2001; and Spring Flowers in 2002.
