Kero Signs with Blackhawks
Former Michigan Tech hockey co-captain Tanner Kero has signed a two-year contract with the Chicago Blackhawks. Kero led the Western Collegiate Hockey Association in points this past season, and is a finalist for the Hobey Baker Award. He will start his professional career with the Rockford Ice Hogs. Kyle to Return as NMU Hockey Coach
Walt Kyle will continue to coach the Northern Michigan University hockey team. His new contract reportedly covers two seasons, at a salary of $171,000 per year.

The Finlandia softball team lost both ends of a doubleheader at Concordia-Wisconsin yesterday, 8-3 and 9-0. The Lions will play two at Maranatha Baptist Bible College today.

NHL – Red Wings Lose to Bruins
Petr Mrazek shut out the Boston Bruins for two periods, but gave up three goals in the third, as the struggling Detroit Red Wings lost 3-2 last night. The Wings have lost 11 of their last 15 games, and skate at Minnesota tomorrow night.

NBA – Pistons Play at Chicago
The Detroit Pistons play at Chicago tonight. Face-off is at 8:00 on AM 1400 and FM 99.3 WCCY.

MLB
A collection of relief pitchers led the Detroit Tigers to a 3-2 victory over the New York Yankees yesterday. Hard-throwing Angel Nesbitt pitched two scoreless innings. Joba Chamberlain and Tom Gorzelanny also pitched scoreless ball. The Tigers face the Rays this afternoon. Anibal Sanchez will start.

Detroit pitchers Justin Verlander and Bruce Rondon will open the season on the disabled list. Rondon is dealing with a sore shoulder… officially listed as biceps tendinitis. Verlander has a strained triceps muscle. His assignment to the list has been back-dated to Tuesday. That means he could return for a start on April 12th… the first time the Tigers will need a fifth starter.

Matt Garza gave up four runs on eight hits in three innings, as the Milwaukee Brewers lost to the San Diego Padres 6-5 yesterday. Ryan Braun and Jonathan Lucroy homered for Milwaukee. The Brewers will play the Indians this afternoon. Wily Peralta will start.

Michigan State faces Duke… and Kentucky takes on Wisconsin… in the NCAA Division One Men’s Basketball Tournament semifinals tomorrow evening. Hear both games… and the title game Monday night… on AM 1400 and FM 99.3 WCCY.
