Anne D. Williams, age 85 of L’Anse, MI passed away Sunday, March 5, 2023 at Baraga County Memorial Hospital, L’Anse with her loving sons by her side. She was born in L’Anse on September 18, 1937 the daughter of the late Arthur and Agnes (Chaudier) Golden. Anne graduated from L’Anse High School in 1955 and received her Masters from Northern Michigan University She married William “Bill” Williams in Marquette om December 28, 1961. He preceded her in death on July 16, 2011. Anne taught school for 42 years, 7 years in the Southwest, 1 year of subbing and 34 of those years in the Baraga School Distract. Anne had sold Mary Kay products as a side business, which helped put one of her sons through college, and many years teaching in the Community Schools helped with the tuition of another son’s college education. She retired in 2000. During her years of teaching, she belonged to the MEA, NEA, BEA, the UP-Business Teachers, the Michigan Business Teachers, and the National Business Teachers. Upon her retirement, she became a member and was active in Sacred Heart Catholic Church and enjoyed Bible Study, and prayer of Fridays. She found great peace before The Blessed Sacrament. In service to the Church, she belonged to Sacred Heart of Jesus Auxiliary, assisted in maintaining the sacristy, and became knowledgeable in the decorum and rules regarding various aspects of the church, and enjoyed assisting in the liturgical decorating of the Church and found great joy in serving at the Mass. Anne was called to pursue a vocation in the Third Order of Carmelites at Holy Cross Church in Iron Mountain and was dedicated to the Blessed Mother. She enjoyed reading, gardening and flowers.
Anne is survived by her loving sons, Brian (Debbie) Williams of Baraga, and Barry (Cris) Williams of Ishpeming, step-son Bill (Lynn) Williams of Costa Rica, grandchildren Joshua Emery, Zachary Williams, Erin McMahon, and Michael Williams, numerous great grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her son Bruce, infant brother Joseph and brothers James, Everett (Shirley), Philip, and Anthony (Loretta) Golden.
Private family funeral services will be held at a later date.
