Ottawa National Forest Seeks Youth Workers

The Ottawa National Forest is looking for applicants for this summer’s Youth Conservation Corp program.

The program is designed to accomplish needed conservation work on public lands, along with providing employment for young men and women, and helping them develop an understanding of the nation’s natural environment.

Applicants must be between 15 and 18 years of age, U.S. citizens, and residents of one of the counties included within the Ottawa National Forest. That includes Houghton, Baraga, Ontonagon, Gogebic and Iron counties.

Jobs will be located at Forest Service offices across the Ottawa, including the Kenton Ranger District Office, the Ontonagon Ranger District Office, the Bessemer Ranger District Office in Ironwood, and the Watersmeet District Office.

The rate of pay will be $15.00 per hour. The employment period will be from June 19, 2023 through August 11, 2023.

Interested teens may apply through their school guidance counselor, or submit their application directly to the Watersmeet Ranger District Office. All applications must be received in the Watersmeet District Office by March 10, 2022.

For further information on the overall program, please contact Shanelle Saunders at the Ottawa National Forest Watersmeet Office, (906) 285-2249 or shanelle.saunders@usda.gov.
