Agnes Jean Hueckstaedt (Totsie) 83, of Baraga, passed away on February 28, 2023 at her home with her family by her side after fighting a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on October 9, 1939 in Zeba, MI daughter of Harry Crebessa and Virginia VanLinden (Asher). Agnes was a member of the Keweenaw Bay Indian Community. She worked for KBIC as the Elder Nutritionist Cook at the Ojibwa Seniors before retiring for a “very” short time and returning to work for the Ojibwa Casino in the laundry room for about 6 yrs.
Agnes is survived by her son Daniel Hueckstaedt (Liz) Daughters; Ellie Miller (Charles) and Kim Klopstein (Jeff) all of Baraga; Sisters; Cecelia Owens of Baraga and Aurelia Hull of Grafton WI. 18 Grandchildren, 27 Great Grandchildren and many nieces and nephews and cousins.
She was proceeded in death by her two sons; Ronald Hueckstaedt, Jr, and Gary Hueckstaedt her parents; Harry Crebessa and Virginia VanLinden (Asher), sisters; Lois Bogda, Jen Eklund, Julia Smitt, Margret Stolp brothers; Henry Crebessa and Donald Crebessa.
Totsie was loved by many and was “Mom” or “Grandma” to everyone. She will be deeply missed by all.
Visitation will be held from 12:30 p.m. -1:30 p.m. on Monday, March 6, 2023 at the Ojibwa Seniors Ceremonial Room. A memorial service with Brad Dakota officiating will be held at 1:30 p.m. Immediately following the memorial service, a luncheon will be held.
Spring interment will take place at the Evergreen Cemetery.
