Two Atlantic Mine Residents Arrested for Selling Methamphetamine

Two people have been arrested for three counts of selling methamphetamine in Houghton County. On Tuesday UPSET West concluded a six month investigation into Michael Statler and Arleen Statler of Atlantic Mine. Detectives have made multiple drug purchases from the Statler’s home in Atlantic Mine, during the course of their investigation. Information retained from the drug purchases led officers to conduct a traffic stop with Mchael Statler on February 19th. During the traffic stop police recovered methamphetamine, and a handgun from Arleen Statler. A search warrant conducted on the Statlers’ residence in Atlantic Mine recovered numerous scales and paraphernalia used in the sale of illegal substances. Police additionally seized methamphetamine, five hand guns, and 13 long guns from the home. Michael Statler was arraigned on Wednesday in 97th district court. He is held on a 55,000 dollar bond. Arleen Statler was also arraigned in 97th district court Wednesday, her bail is set at 25,000 dollars.
