Winter Storm Causes Closings

A Winter Storm Warning continues across the entire region, with heavy snowfall and brisk winds making driving treacherous.

The Keweenaw Peninsula can expect an additional 6 to 10 inches of snow today. Northeasterly winds could gust to 25 or 30 miles per hour along the shoreline, causing drifting and areas of very low visibility.

We have received a number of school and office closings and event cancellations. Check our up-to-date list here. http://www.keweenawreport.com/closings-cancellations/

This morning’s 9:00 SkyWest flight from the Houghton County Memorial Airport to Chicago is listed as “delayed.” Several flights into and out of K.I. Sawyer Airport in Marquette have been canceled.

Conditions should begin to improve this evening. The Winter Storm Warning is set to expire at 7 p.m. for southern Houghton County, midnight for Ontonagon County and the Keweenaw Peninsula, and 1 a.m. tomorrow for Baraga and Marquette Counties.
