Keweenaw County Leads The State In Percentage Population Growth

A new report from the U.S. Census Bureau says the fastest-growing county in Michigan is Keweenaw County, whose population rose 1.7 percent between 2013 and 2014.

Allegan, Kent, Ottawa and Wexford counties also showed population growth of at least one percent over the July 1, 2013 to July 1, 2014 period.

Kent County added more than 6,800 people over the period, more than any other county in the state. It was followed by Oakland County, which grew by more than 6,000.

Macomb, Ottawa and Washtenaw counties rounded out the top five.

Wayne County is the most populous county in Michigan, with 1,764,804 residents, followed by Oakland County and Macomb County.
