Calumet – Anthony James Julio 92, of Laurium, MI, passed away on December 5, 2022, at home following a lengthy illness. Anthony was born on August 7, 1930, to Dominic and Catherine (Zubiena) Julio in Laurium, MI. Tony began working in the family business delivering Bosch Beer at the age of 14. After graduating from Calumet High School in 1949, he began working full time for the distributorship until the brewery closed in 1973. He began his career at the CLK Schools as a janitor and then moving to become a bus driver until his retirement. Also in 1949 he joined the National Guards for the first time that would span a 30 year commitment to the Guards, which included deployment to the 1967 Detroit riots. In 1967 he met Lorraine Charrier, and they wed in May of 1963 at the St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Detroit, going on to having two children, Dawn and Beth. Tony was a member of the St. Paul the Apostle Church. He also enjoyed membership in the Christopher Columbus Lodge, Skinny Club, and Elks Lodge. Anthony was predeceased by his parents, Dominic and Catherine, his father and mother-in-law, Roy and Agnes Grahek, brother and sister-in-law LeRoy and Helen Charrier. He is survived by his wife Lorraine, daughters Beth and Dawn (John) Gibson, and grandchildren, Anthony Stromer (Jenna and daughter Gracelyn) and Selena Stromer. Also surviving are nieces Diane Charrier and Barbara Lee Smith. Additional extended family members that had become so close over his 92 years (insert a lot of names……you know who you are!). Visitation will be held at the Ryan Funeral Home on Thursday, December 8th from 6 to 8 p.m. with a Vigil Service at 7:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, December 9th at the St. Paul the Apostle Church at 11 a.m. with Rev. Fr. Gracious Pulimoottil to officiate. A luncheon will follow in the church hall.
