Pairings for the opening round of the high school football playoffs have been announced.

In Division Six…
• Houghton will play at Negaunee, with the game broadcast on the Voice of the Gremlins, 97.7 The Wolf.
• Calumet will play at Menominee, with the game broadcast on the Voice of the Copper Kings, KBear 102.3.

In Division Seven…
• L’Anse will play at Traverse City Saint Francis.

In Eight Player Division Two…
• Lake Linden-Hubbell will play at Forest Park.

Dates and times for the games will be confirmed today.

All playoff tickets will be sold online only via GoFan, and should be purchased in advance.

In volleyball tonight…
• Jeffers welcomes Ewen-Trout Creek.
• Chassell travels to Ironwood.
• Baraga plays at L’Anse.

College Soccer

Michigan Tech edged Saginaw Valley State 2-1 yesterday. Julia Pietila and Emily Clayton scored for the Huskies.

The Finlandia University women’s soccer team lost to Wisconsin-Platteville 5-0 yesterday.

The Finlandia men’s team fell 4-3 to Illinois Tech yesterday.

NHL

The Red Wings shut down the Ducks 5-1 yesterday. Dominik Kubalik had a goal and two assists. Ville Husso stopped 32 shots.

The Wings entertain the Devils tomorrow. Coverage will begin at 6:45 on 99.3 The Lift.

The Pistons visit the Wizards tomorrow.

The participants in this fall’s World Series are set.

The Phillies advanced with a 4-3 victory over the Padres yesterday, taking the National League Championship Series 4-1.

The Astros eliminated the Yankees 6-5 yesterday, to sweep the American League Championship Series 4-0.

The Fall Classic will open Friday in Houston.
