Houghton swept the team championships at the WestPAC cross country meet yesterday…
• On the boys side, Negaunee placed second, and Westwood third. Judge Anderson of the Miners placed first individually. Isaiah Lawson and Cyrus Hamlin of the Gremlins finished second and third. Dane Anderson of the Copper Kings placed fifth.
• In the girls meet, Calumet came in second, followed by Hancock and Negaunee. Individually, Tessa Rautiola of the Gremlins finished first, with Claire Filpus and Lily Ross third and fourth. Kiira Berg of the Copper Kings placed sixth. Rayna Towles of the Bulldogs was eighth.

At the Copper Mountain Conference cross country championship at Ironwood yesterday…
• Jeffers won the boys title, followed by Dollar Bay-Tamarack City, Ironwood, Chassell and Republic-Michigamme. Amos Norland of the Blue Bolts took first place individually, a minute better than Tavin Larson and Landon Larson of the Jets, and just shy of a record.
• Gogebic won the girls team title, with Chassell second and Dollar Bay-Tamarack City third. Natalie Stone of the Miners finished first individually, and Taryn Maki of the Blue Bolts placed third.

College Football
Michigan Tech and Northern Michigan will play for the Miner’s Cup tomorrow. Kickoff is at 1:00 at Kearly Stadium.
The Finlandia University football team plays at Martin Luther College tomorrow.
College Hockey
The Michigan Tech hockey team claimed a 2-0 victory at Alaska last night. Logan Pietila and Ryland Mosely scored for the Huskies. Blake Pietila made 31 saves, and set a new school record with his 11th shutout. Those teams skate in Fairbanks again tonight.
Northern Michigan skates at Notre Dame tonight and Sunday.
College Volleyball
The Michigan Tech volleyball team plays at the Midwest Regional Crossover this weekend. The Huskies will open against Ashland this afternoon, and Indianapolis this evening.
The Finlandia volleyball team is in Minneapolis today for a triangular with Crown College and North Central University.
College Soccer
The Tech soccer team hosts Parkside tonight at 7:00, and Purdue Northwest Sunday at noon.

Junior Hockey
The Copper Country Junior Hockey Association will proceed with a girls division this winter. Teams will be organized for 8U, 10U, 12U and 14U divisions. The first on-ice session will be held this evening at 6:45 at the Houghton County Arena. Full protective equipment is required.
Girls who have already signed up for CCJHA hockey do not need to sign up again. Girls who have not yet signed up can do so online here. Before you sign up locally, you must also register with USA Hockey. There’s a link on the CCJHA registration page, along with details about cost and equipment.
