Outdoors foragers, hunters, gardeners and homesteaders are all invited to participate in sharing your knowledge with the Western Upper Peninsula Local Food Systems Collaborative. The group’ first meeting will occur at the Portage Lake district library next Tuesday, starting at 6:30 pm. Participants will contribute to a photo project and share stories about local food gathering in the area. Those who sign up, will participate in several small group meetings throughout the fall. No previous photography or writing experience is needed. This research project is funded in part by the Michigan Health Endowment Fund. To learn more about the Western U.P. Food Systems Collaborative and their work contact Doctor Angie Carter at 906-487-1431 or by email wuplocalfoodstories@gmail.com.
