Dianda Wants Local Governments To Have First Bid On Used MDOT Equipment

Local governments should have the first crack at used snow removal equipment being sold by the Michigan Department of Transportation.

That’s what State Representative Scott Dianda believes.

Dianda introduced a bill this week that would require MDOT to give local governments the first chance to bid on the equipment at auction before it is offered to the general public.

Since many local governments are using equipment that is decades old, the used equipment being sold by MDOT is often newer than what they have.

Dianda introduced an identical bill last year that passed unanimously in the House but then went no further once it reached the state senate.
